On second thought...

Some people in my family seem to think Calia looks like me and I just didn't see it, until my mother pulled out this picture of me at 2 months. You be the judge!

Practice makes perfect...a father/daughter photo session

Hey Kevin, let's take a picture of you and Calia.
No Daddy don't hold my head like that!
Ok, now Calia's looking at the camera and Daddy's petting her head.
Aren't we done yet?
Oh, my the drama.

Finally!
And I thought the photo session with Calia and Coda was difficult!

The Wedding Crasher

Yesterday, we attended our good friends Casey and Kathy's wedding at the Poland Spring Inn. The wedding was gorgeous and we are so happy for them. Calia was a doll. She fell asleep on the way there (abut a 45 minute drive), slept through the ceremony (11 am) in her daddy's arms and then slept in her car seat in the stroller until 2pm!! She never cried or made a peep all day, so we decided to stay for the after party, where Calia continued to be the perfect wedding guest. Kevin joked that we must've brought someone elses baby.

Chillin' in my swing

Yesterday, Calia and I were out for numerous appointments including going to my new office (aka Calia's pediatrician's office) to fill out paper work, etc. So, I put her on the scale...granted she had a little outfit on and I'm not sure of the status of her diaper...but she was 10 lbs 3 oz. Everyone is so sweet at my new practice and my office is incredible, a corner office with huge windows and a view of downtown Portland!

I see your true colors shining through...

Everyone always says "what a good baby" when they meet Miss Calia, Kevin and I laugh...because we know and see her true colors. Not all the time, but...she can go from the sweetest baby ever to a raging lunatic in 0 to 10 seconds flat! Thankfully, this is always at home and never in a public place...well, not yet anyway.

Kevin or Calia??

Ok, so everyone says Calia looks like her daddy, so I've put a few pictures of Kevin as a baby up...WOW! If it weren't for the 70's furniture and Shelly, I'd swear I was looking at Calia! Thankfully, Calia has my feet and not Kevin's hammertoes!

All about the hair!

Well, guess everyone was right about Calia having no chance at having straight hair! Between mommy's naturally curly gair and daddy's naturally wavy/curly hair (he keeps it short), Miss Calia had no chance. Thankfully, if we comb it while still damp it stays relatively straight.

Fun with Calia

Milestones reached this week...sleeping for a 6 hour stretch at night (2 nights in a row)!! After her feeding and reading a few books, Calia is sound asleep in her papasan chair (thank God for that chair). I like to call the picture on the top "the look." She was sleeping on me after feeding this am and I moved her to her swing so I could get some work done, this is the look she gave me when she woke up. The picture on the bottom is her 5 weeks old picture! Seems all of her weight is in those cheeks.

A girl and her dog

Well, on Calia's one month birthday, I attempted to have a Coda/Calia photo session. Coda wasn't too interested in being Calia's back rest, Calia kept sliding down, and neither would look at the camera...but overall I got a couple cute pictures. Hopefuly, these photo sessions will get easier as time goes on!

Kevin, Rick and their girls

Yesterday, we drove up to Damariscotta to meet the newest Nelson. Brynna is adorable. Calia and Brynna took turns crying, it was funny when one was crying the other would look around as if to say "if that's not me, who is that?" It is obvious both of these little ladies have their daddies wrapped around their fingers.

Where does the time go??

I can't believe Calia is already 1 month old. Kevin and I enjoy her more each day. Yesterday, Calia and I drove to Augusta because I had to testify in court on a patient. She was so good on the witness stand...in my arms, awake the whole time, staring at me and didn't make a peep! After 1/2 hour of testimony, the judge dismissed me and asked how old she was, when I told him, he said she was very well behaved! Hopefully, she (and I) will never have to see the inside of a court room again!

4 weeks old...already!

I can't believe our little princess is almost a month old! She is becoming so interactive. She loves her swing and papasan chair. Most of the time she sticks her tongue out at us as if to say I've got you both wrapped around my long little fingers already! She had her 4 week checkup yesterday and my, my has she gotten big! Her weight is 8 lbs 12 oz (up almost 2 lbs since birth), length is 20.5 inches (although I doubt the accuracy of length for a 4 week old.) We do daily neck exercises with tummy time and smiling lessons, I know having a mommy who'd a pediatric PA is probably not a good thing for Calia!

Lea and Lance's Wedding

Calia went to her first wedding on September 3. She was so well behaved! Spent most of the night being passed around our table or dancing with mommy. Amazing how much she loves to be in mommy's arms while mommy bopped around, or even more interesting was our family slow "dance", with Kevin, Calia and myself...more like Kevin holding Calia and me trying to sway with both of them! The wedding was wonderful and a long time coming. Welcome to the family Lance (finally!)

First Bath

Calia loves her bath time, well the actual time in the tub! Hates getting in, hates getting out, but once that water hits her, she's in heaven. She loves having her hair washed and brushed, actually anytime you rub her head/play with her hair it soothes her.

Sleeping

So sweet when asleep

Well, it took awhile to get this site running, but here we go.......Calia is so sweet when sleeping, unfortunately, this is her favorite position. As I type this she is dozing in and out lying on my chest, doesn't make for me being able to get much else done. She spent an hour or so in the baby bjorn yesterday, so at least my hands were free. It's hard to believe she is 3 1/2 weeks old already. She is getting so big and changing so much everyday.
