Office Holiday Party

This past Thursday, my office closed early for our holiday party. Although, I don't work on Thursday's Calia and I headed in to partake in the festivities... Amy brought Ben, Andrew brought Eli, so Calia had both of her men to play with, and a whole new group of adults to entertain.

Today, Santa made his appearance at Toddle Inn. I figured when he entered Room 7, he'd be met with screams and tears (of fright, not delight). Room 7 (Calia's room) has children age 16 months (Calia is the youngest) to almost 2 (once they are 2 they go to the next room). I got there early and watched Calia play in the room for a bit, unknown to her. She is so sweet, just sitting reading her book, playing with her friend Thea (also 16 months). Since Calia has moved to this big kid room, she's come home with lots of "friend" inflicted scrapes and bruises. My mom and I saw one of her little "friends" in action today....hitting Calia on the head, taking her toys, not being a very nice girl. Calia just looked at her, then got up and moved away. I heard the little girls name and sure enough it was the same one who had pushed Calia on her first day in Room 7 leaving her with a cut under her chin. I'm not so sure Santa will be visting this "friends" house.

This past Saturday, we made the trip down to South Berwick to have an early Holiday celebration with the Rice Family. Unfortunately, my cousin Lori was ill, so her family including 3 little girls age 2 1/2 to 6 years weren't able to make it. Making Calia the only child and therefore center of attention. Her favorite part of the day was taking the name tags off presents and handing those out.

We headed from there to our friends Ben, Laura and Ella's for their holiday open house. I've never seen so many kids under 2 in my life! There was probably 10 couples there with at least one child per family. Most ranging in the 9-20 months age group. Calia had a ball, but was quite tired and a bit cranky, so we made our visit a short one. The majority of the children present will all go to Falmouth schools some day.

Ummmm, I want a kitchen set. Fruit?? Plastic Fruit?? But, that little girl got Dora!

Also, this past Saturday we went to the Portland Police Department Kids Christmas Party. Calia did well, considering the party started at nap time. She danced with other kids, found interest in the CD player, and wasn't scared of Santa. The best part was watching her watch the other kids open their presents. If I was something she liked, she'd go over and try to sit on it. When she opened her big container of plastic fruit/veggies/etc, she looked at the little girl next to her opening a Dora doll, then looked up at me like "really mom?" Too cute. Needless to say, within 2 mintues of getting in the car, Miss Bubba was out like a light. 'Tis the season!
