Whew, It's been a long time since I've updated the blog. Everyone is doing great, trying to stay dry with the horrible rain we've had. On October 2nd, it was gorgeous and sunny and warm, since then...cold and rainy almost everyday, the sun is out today, but brrr! Winter came fast!

Calia is doing great. Smiling more everyday. Kevin calls her our travelocity traveling gnome when she wears her Yiayia-made "zip-up the back sweater" She loves the cozy warm sweater, but for the first time someone thought she was a boy!! I was looking at Robeez shoes for her and the sales lady asked why I was looking at shoes with purple butterflies for my little boy, then she looked down at Calia's jeans which have pink around the cuff and apologized profusely. I decide to buy the pink with white flowers Robeez as to avoid any further confusion. If anyone has a baby and doesn't own a pair of these shoes you are missing out. They stay on incredibly well and are quite fashionable, well worth the high price tag ($25-28 a pair depending on where you buy them).

I love my new job at University Healthcare for Kids, night and day from my previous practice. This place is the reason I wanted to be a PA! My fellow practioners are soo knowledgable, I learned more from them the first few days than I had in over a year at the other practice! A very good fit, indeed! The shortened commute (less than 10 mintues compared to 45-50 minutes each way) gives me more time to spend with my princess. Calia is still sleeping through the night! She sleeps anywhere from 7-9 hours straight through. Such a doll! She's looking forward to having her Nana here next week to watch her (she starts daycare on Nov 15th!) For the past 3+ weeks everyone in my family has been taking turns watching her (Thanks to Katie and kids, Elaine and kids, Calia's Great,Great Aunt Jo, 2 Yiayia, Yiayia, Great Aunt Barbara, and Nouna (Godmother in Greek) Katie).

Ok, so yesterday, Kevin, Calia and I were at the mall. We were in Filene's looking at stuff for Kevin, when clear as day Calia looked at us and said "hi!" I looked at Kevin and asked, "did you hear that?" He said yes and we were both amazed. I knew taking that DHA/ARA supplement (Expecta) during my last trimester and still while breast feeding would increase her IQ down the road, but, I had no idea she'd be a genius at 10 weeks of age!

Another busy week for Miss Calia. On Saturday October 8th, mommy's best friend Shari, her husband James, and their 10 month old Jesse flew up from High Point, NC for the weekend. Then Calia's Nana, Pop Pop, Uncle Jeff, and Cousin Jeremy arrived from Pennsylvania. Everyone was in town to help celebrate Calia's baptism, which took place at St, Mary's in Falmouth on Sunday the 9th (also Calia's 2 month birthday!) We had almost 40 people in church and back to Calia's Yiayia and Papa's for the after party. It was a rainy weekend, but we made the most of it! The grandmother's took a ton of pictures and as soon as I get them, I'll post them on the site!
After a small bout of constipation, we have stopped supplementing a formula bottle before bedtime and she is still sleeping 8 hours a night...Little miss even slept 9 hours last night!! She has been in her crib this week and seems to like it. She went for her 2 month check this week and now weighs 11 lbs 2 oz and 23 1/2 inches!! She smiles a lot now and is developing quite the personality! She enjoys her baby Einstein videos...language nursery and baby Mozart, which she conducts her hands along with the music.

Apple Picking

Sunday, October 2nd was Calia's first trip to Randall's for apple picking! Kevin, Calia, Coda and I went with Calia's Yiayia, Papa, Aunt Lea, Uncle Lance, Aisha, and Angelea. As has become tradition, Kevin had Aisha on his shoulders to pick the highest, biggest apples while Ang kept track of Coda for us. I got off easy and carried the sleeping Calia in her baby Bjorn (love that thing) . We then had a little picnic.

We all had a busy week! On Wednesday, we all went to the Cumberland Fair. It was crowded! We saw Tim, Brenda and Lilly, Nick, Jami, Evan and Sammy, Cyndi, Patrick, Joshua and Grace!. Kevin found his apple crisp stand and Calia loved the lights! Next year she'll be able to enjoy it a bit more! On Thursday, Calia and I went shopping for warmer, bigger clothes for her! We stopped into my office to fill out paperwork, so of course I put Calia on the scale...clothed with a dry diaper she was 10 lbs 10 oz! On Friday, I went back to work. Kevin worked from home and spent his first full day alone with Calia, although they did come visit me during lunch!

Calia continues to sleep like a champ at night...5-6 hour spans and only up for 20-30 minutes in between!! Coda likes Calia and manages to get a "drive by licking" in at least 2 times a day. It's funny, when Calia is throwing a tantrum, Coda gets up and leaves the room. Guess she can't be bothered! Calia has 90% control of holding her head up now and has even managed a few non -gas related smiles, especially when you refer to her as "Princess Calia" wonder where she gets that from???
