Did you know it is spelt all three ways according to google.com? However it's spelt, it is Calia new favorite thing! Thursday night, she was sitting on Kevin's lap playing and talking to him and I started the vac...little miss couldn't take her eyes off it. No matter where I went she was craning her neck to keep the vac in her view. I think she may be more interested in the vac than Coda, if this is even possible! She now sits and pants at Coda or laughs at her until Coda finally comes over to check her out. Too cute! Also on Thursday while out running errands all day, Calia wore her shades. She kept them on for 2 hours before taking them off to use as a weapon!

So, I've been on vacation from work this week and have gotten to spent a ton of one-on-one time with Calia...I've discovered she is quite the character. I'm holding my breath for some teeth to arrive, because she is a drooly, crabby, clingy mess. I've been organizing the clothes she's outgrown into girl or unisex to store away for #2. She is now offically out of 3-6 months, although some still fit her, I decided it was time to move on! She is sleeping 10-11 hours a night straight through 6 out of 7 nights of the week, and only getting up once during the other night and crying for an hour or so until I go in and rub her gums, poor thing! She is eating 3 meals a day...breakfast: breast (mommy), oatmeal and fruit; mid am: breast milk (mommy or 6 oz pumped); lunch: fruit or veggie and 6 oz formula; mid pm: breast milk (mommy or 6 oz pumped); dinner: mixed cereal and veggie; before bed: 4-6 oz formula.

The last weekend in Feb, Kevin's parents came up from PA to visit, they had not seen Calia since Christmas. We had a good visit, including a day in Freeport shopping. Calia's great Gram and Grampa Jack are coming to stay with us the weekend of March 24-26. Calia spends most of her time in her entertainer...standing, bouncing, gumming at anything she can maneuver to her mouth. She sits for short times unassisted, but because she bucks backward, she doesn't last long. It is the bucking backward motion that enables her to scoot on her back across the room...who needs to crawl when you can buck? And banging on anything in her vicinity, I blame this on my former band member husband, who played the drums. We have noticed, that if music is on, Calia can keep the cadence with her banging. Brilliant!

Kevin and I are knee deep in kitchen renovation plans. We both want the best, but have to remember our little house is not high end and that a simple, middle of the road, renovation will suffice, and leave us with extra money for other things...like or upcoming trip to California in May. Thankfully, it seems as though winter is ending, not that we ever had much of one this season, fine by me! This weekend it is supoosed to be in the upper 50's!! Woo Hoo!

So, today Calia wanted to wear her Red Sox outfit to celebrate Manny showing up at spring training. Then, she couldn't decide how to wear her hair...with a bow holding her "Donald Trump-like comb over" to the side or her Nike hat to match her shoes...she finally decided on the hat. So, while I was at Adalia getting my own hair cut and Calia napped like an angel, we decided to give her her first real haircut (I had previously chopped off her rat tail months ago). Sonya gave Calia bangs that can also be worn to the side. Needless to say, Calia loved having her hair brushed and cut and was babbling away with the women at the salon.

So, Calia's favorite word is baba. Everything is baba, from happy to mad, she just changes her tone. So, I've taken to calling her my Bubba girl. She also has a fine array of shrieks and growls.

6 Month Well Visit

Calia went for her 6 month checkup yesterday...here are her stats...

Weight: 14 lbs 10 oz (25%)
Length: 26.5 in (75%)
Head: 16.75 in (50%)

So, she's tall, thin with an average size head.

She got 3 shots and has a right ear infection :( So, now she's on antibiotics. You'd have never known about the ear, she is such a little peach! Drooling up a storm, eating her fruits and veggies like a champ (so far, she eats everything, even rice and oatmeal now!) I'll post pictures later.

I can't believe my baby girl is 6 months old today. Where does the time go?? Calia has been fighting another cold/teething, otherwise she has ben wonderful. She now drinks from a sippy cup (water) with dinner. Along with peas and carots, her menu now includes squash and sweet potatoes. She remains not a huge fan of cereal (rice or oatmeal) and they still leave a rash on her chin. After her pictures today, I'm just going to start giving the cereal to her more frequently so she can try to get used to it. She is 75% sitting up alone, pulling herself to sit whenever given the chance. Grabbing and any and everything in her path of destruction! Our little princess is quite the fireball (a bit of mommy perhaps?) She brought home her first piece of artwork from daycare last week, a finger painting. It is proudly posted on the fridge.

The previous photo dump were all pictures from our recent trip to Stowe, VT last Wed-Sat for a medical conference. We stayed at the Stoweflake http://www.stoweflake.com. Calia slept in one of the queen beds, Kevin in the other, and I jumped between them both. We had a fireplace in our room, which Calia loved to watch. She hated the pool, loved going for walks in her pack, and was perfect everytime we went out to eat. She did get sick, fever 102-103 that would not come down and we end up in the local ER... Note to anyone traveling to Stowe, if anyone gets sick and needs an ER go to Fletcher Allen in Burlington, rather than Copley in Morrisville...what a nightmare. After 4 hours and the local Oxycontin seeking trash who dropped the "f" word like it was normal and got into a fist fight with her sig other in the lobby (poor Calia her little eyes were like saucers!) The ER doc asked me to lavage Calia's ears and currette the wax out (his job). What a waste, I ended up treating my own child, which I try not to do and is the reason we went to the ER in the first place. Oh well.
